Starting your trek early at dawn will allow you to enjoy an unforgettable sunrise away from the crowds. Due to this being a popular hike in Cape Town, trekking during the days and especially at weekends can be busy. Our advice is going early for sunrise or later in the day for a magical sunset.

7. African Adventures: Experience The Salt Pan in Namibia

Another spectacular experience in Africa is visiting the salt jewel of Namibia. Etosha Pan is the largest salt pan in the country, and its expansiveness allows it to be seen from space. It is a unique sight you should not miss on any African adventures in Namibia.

The Salt Pan is 130 KM long and 50 km wide making this the largest Salt Pan in the whole of Africa. Because it’s so unique and visually dramatic, it makes for an incredible experience.

The Salt Pan is created due to a result in a huge body of water drying up over a long amount of time. Once the water is completely evaporated, it leaves behind its minerals and a thick layer of salt - which is why it looks white and stark. What’s great about Salt Pans is that, even though they look desolate - they are actually unique ecosystems and are home to specific and individual plants, wild animals and birdlife. It’s fascinating to visit this area on your African adventures because aside from the breath-taking landscapes - you’ll also learn about how these species survive in such harsh environments.

If you visit Madagascar, you must treat yourself to an exciting walk down Baobab Avenue. It is an iconic place like no other and extremely famous. The Avenue of Baobab is located on the west coast of Madagascar, and it is lined with numerous large Baobab trees. More impressively, some of these trees are believed to be 2,800 years old.

If you want to see these trees at their finest moments, then make sure you book your trip around April. This is the time when Baobabs get leafy and are just visually captivating. They are also beautiful during the dry season too.
