TRAVEL INSURANCE

Events outside of both BornWild and your control might occur, so we REQUIRE you to secure an independent travel protection insurance policy which includes emergency evacuation coverage and medical coverage for the duration of your trip with us.

Travel Insurance Requirements

Events outside of both BornWild’s and your control may occur. For this reason, we require all travelers to secure independent travel protection insurance for the duration of their trip. This policy must include emergency medical evacuation coverage and medical coverage for the entirety of your journey with us.

Essential Coverage

Your travel insurance policy must provide comprehensive medical protection, including:

  • Full medical coverage for illness or injury

  • Emergency medical air evacuation

  • Repatriation coverage, not only in the event of death but also in cases of serious injury that require transport to a suitable medical facility

Minimum Insurance Requirements & Guidance

We require that your policy meets the following minimum standards:

  • Emergency evacuation/repatriation coverage: minimum $200,000 USD

  • Medical coverage: minimum $75,000 USD

Please note: Policies tied to credit cards or personal health insurance coverage are not accepted.

Although we require that your policy start and end dates coincide with your official trip dates, we recommend coverage for the entire duration of your travel, including flights and transit. Ensure that your emergency evacuation coverage includes helicopter evacuation and covers any altitudes you may reach during your trip.

COVID-19 Insurance Considerations

While COVID-19 restrictions have eased in many regions, we strongly encourage all travelers to verify that their travel insurance includes:

  • Medical coverage for COVID-19 illness

  • Trip cancellation coverage for COVID-19-related disruptions

Some countries may require COVID-19 medical coverage as part of a travel insurance policy. Many insurers now include COVID-19 coverage under general medical illness protection; however, we recommend confirming this directly with your provider and obtaining a physical letter stating that COVID-19 coverage is included. Bring both a physical and electronic copy of this letter when traveling.

Please be aware: If you contract COVID-19 shortly before or during your trip, BornWild’s ability to recover costs for hotels or activities is limited. Depending on the country, a positive test may require mandatory quarantine at an additional cost. Many insurance providers do offer coverage for these scenarios.

Note: If your travel insurance includes adequate medical coverage for COVID-19 as part of general illness protection, a separate COVID-19 clause is not strictly required. It is recommended to double-check with your provider to ensure you have sufficient coverage for your destination.

Optional Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) Coverage

Some travelers choose to purchase optional Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage for additional peace of mind. CFAR coverage typically must be purchased within 14–21 days after trip registration/booking. Clients have successfully obtained CFAR coverage through providers such as Travel Insured International.

We encourage you to conduct thorough due diligence to ensure that your chosen policy meets your specific needs and requirements.
