Zanzibar
The largest and most popular Tanzania islan - Zanzibar, is a vibrant blend of historical interest, spice plantations, and sun-kissed beaches. You can easily reach Zanzibar by a direct 20-minute flight or a 2-hour ferry from Dar es Salaam. Zanzibar is home to around 1 million people, offering a unique mix of the vibrant life of Stone Town and its dreamy tranquil coastline. It’s ideal for travelers who are looking for both culture and relaxation. The best time to visit is June to October and December to February, when the skies are clear and the sea is calm.

Pemba Island
Situated around 30 miles north of Zanzibar, Pemba Island is smaller, greener and much less developed — it’s often called the “Green Island.” You can reach Pemba via a 30-minute flight from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam. With a population of around 400,000, it has a quieter, calmer, authentic feel where daily life happens slowly. Pemba is ideal for divers, explorers and travelers seeking solitude; its reefs are among some of the most pristine in East Africa. Visit between July and February for warm weather and exceptional underwater visibility.

Mafia Island
Located to the south of Zanzibar, Mafia Island is tranquil and beautifully unspoiled, part of a protected marine park that is alive with flourishing coral and whale sharks. You can only reach the island via a 45-minute flight from Dar es Salaam, there are no direct ferry or boat options. With a low population of around 50,000, it offers privacy and a deep connection with nature. During the prime months of October to March, you can enjoy activities such as diving, snorkeling, sailing, and swimming with whale sharks, which is also the best time to visit.
